Afrin… The death of a Kurdish citizen under torture by armed militia

 

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin: Since the Turkish occupation forces invaded Afrin (March 2018), it has not been known to this day the number of Kurdish citizens who lost their lives in the prisons of the Syrian Interim Government and the Syrian National Coalition loyal to the Turkish occupation government, despite some leaks due to the severe media blackout and the prevention of international human rights organizations from visiting its prisons and detention facilities.

Sources reported the Human Rights Organization in Afrin that a Kurdish citizen from Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan was killed under torture in al-Ra’i prison, which is controlled by the armed militias loyal to Turkey.

The same sources confirmed that “the Kurdish citizen Masoud Ospa Youssef (42 years old) was killed under torture at the hands of armed militia members loyal to Turkey in al-Ra’i prison in the countryside of Izaz.

Some sources added that “his body was transported to an unknown location without informing his family of his death until this moment.”

The Kurdish citizen Masoud Ospa Youssef, from Masaka village of Rajo town of Afrin, was arrested on March 18, 2018, on charges of joining the traffic police in the administration of the (PYD) in Afrin.

Informed sources said that despite the family’s attempt several times to know his fate, but to no avail, and recently we have received news that young Masoud has lost his life under torture since August 2020, and his body has been transferred to an unknown location without his family being informed of his death so far.
