The mysterious detonation and investigation

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin: We discussed the mysterious bombing operation on Tuesday morning on 23/02/2021 in the house of Sharif Qassem in Basouta town of Afrin city center, which is under the control of the Al Hamzat militia, and the loss of each of the citizen Nawzad Akram Tobal, 41, and female citizen Haifa Sharif Qassem, 21, (his cousin) their lives, and then the Al Hamzat militia members kidnapped the rest of the family and their relatives and handed them over to the Turkish Military Police and Intelligence to conduct the necessary preliminary investigations to find out the details of the accident and the reason for the presence of the explosive devices in the house, and the house of the deceased, Nawzad Akram Tobal, was seized, and the entire contents of the house, including home furniture, tools, and electrical appliances, were seized and the livestock belonging to him also was confiscated.

Sources reported to the Human Rights Organization in Afrin that after 40 days have passed since the incident and after the investigation, it became clear that the kidnappers had nothing to do with the explosive devices and had no knowledge of their presence in the house, and sources within the Military Police confirmed that the investigations ended two weeks after the kidnapping without proving their accusation and condemnation, however, they are still under arbitrarily enforced disappearance because they are indigenous Kurds, and the responsible authorities prevent visits from them and refrain from answering the questions of the lawyers in the case under the pretext that the investigations are not completed until they are transferred to the judiciary (the court), especially among the kidnapped are women and minors.

The sources pointed out that the deceased Nawzad had vague relations with the elements of the Al Hamzat militia related to the field of smuggling to and from the areas of the regime and the partnership in commercial deals, therefore, the Turkish military police and intelligence personnel were the first to investigate militia members who have ties (collaborators) with the Syrian regime and their auxiliary forces in the town.
