There is no difference between armed men and settlers in Afrin region

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin: Increasing cases of attacks on Kurdish citizens by militiamen and settlers alike, as a result of the protection and power they enjoy in the presence of the Turkish occupation forces.

Informed sources reported to the Human Rights Organization in Afrin that the Kurdish widowed, Hamida Misto, from the village of Bi’eye – of Sherawa area, on Thursday, March 18, 2021, was exposed to her leg as a result of bullets fired by members of the Faylaq Al Sham militia while she was going to the bakery because of her refusal to marry her daughter to one of the gunmen about a month and a half ago, and she was transferred to the Darit Izza hospital by a family from the Arab component in a deplorable condition for treatment.

Since the date of the girl’s request for marriage, the citizen Hamida and her brother Mohamed Misto live in an atmosphere of terror and fear as a result of their intimidation by the militia and threatening them if they file a complaint against them with any concerned party with the matter (the military and civil police).

Private sources reported that, last week, a number of settler children threw stones at the house of an elderly Kurdish citizen in a village of Rajo town and mocked her, so her son expelled them and warned them not to return to throwing stones again.

The sources added that on the second day, the security official in the town of Medan Akbas summoned the son and interrogated him twice for warning the children instead of alerting and reprimanding the children’s parents.

In the same context, the Civil Police also, about a month and a half ago, during the vandalism and destruction of the tomb of the poet Aref Sheikho Khalil “Bavê Gulê”, on 4/2/2021, summoned his relatives and the Mukhtar of the village to interrogate them because the news reached the media and not with the aim of identifying the saboteurs and thieves. Those who stole the alabaster stones surrounding the grave and broke some of them, especially the stones that were written on them in the Kurdish language, based on a chauvinist racist view.
