Afrin… The continuing imposition of royalties and logging by armed factions

Activities Afrin stated in its report on 03/01/2021, that an unknown group of thieves, on Tuesday morning of December 29/12/2020, cut down nearly 50 olive trees from the roots owned by the Kurdish citizen Hanif Brimo, a resident of Kûra village of Rajo town in the field located north of the village on the road to the village of Cheqilma.

Activists said the elements of the Hamzat militia, led by the so-called Hasanki, who control the villages of (Kokane Foqaani – Kokane Tahtani) of the Mabata town, have imposed a royalty on the people of the two villages since the beginning of the olive harvest season (oil tanks – olive sacks) in addition to the theft and looting of the crop in front of the villagers’ eyes and seizing the crops of the forcibly displaced, recently, every Kurdish family was imposed a fine of $ 300, and anyone who refused to pay was threatened with imprisonment and accusations of dealing with the previous administration and compulsory service, noting that the so-called Hasanki was previously and is still dealing with the Syrian regime.

The activists said its report that on Friday 25/12/2020, the called Hasanki and his members stole a Hyundai van belonging to the Kurdish citizen, Mohammed Sido, and cut down about 150 olive trees belonging to the descendants of the hero Suleiman al-Halabi, who resisted the French colonialism (family Ahmed Sido) and sold it for firewood.
