The Human Rights Organization in Afrin: Activists circulated pictures from Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan which were said to be of a sawmill for cutting and selling firewood cut and perennial trees in the Marate roundabout in the city center, in full view of the responsible authorities.
Activists reported the human rights organization in Afrin that every day, at least thousands of military and civilian vehicles pass near the Marate roundabout, which is under the control of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya militants, including members of the local council of Afrin, which issued several circulars and decisions regarding the cutting of trees (fruitful -the forest) and selling it firewood, which remained ink on paper in front of the tyranny of Abu Rami and his accomplices, who seized the shop “Afrin Sawmill for cutting firewood”.
They added, while the decision applies to the simple Kurdish peasant who owns of his property and who does not have the price of ten liters of fuel, whether for preparing food or heating in the winter.
The so-called Abu Rami buys the trunk of trees, some of which are more than 100-150 years old, from members of the armed factions and Arab settlers, cut them and then sells them firewood to merchants in the cities of Idlib and Izaz, and another part is exported to Turkey at low prices (At cost price) to ignore his illegal actions and the bribes he pays to the responsible authorities in the Agriculture Chamber.
More than one million and 300 thousand fruitful and fruitless trees have been cut or burned since Turkey and the armed factions invaded the Afrin region.
