The martyrdom of a child, following a mine explosion in Aleppo countryside

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin: A Kurdish child from the displaced of Afrin – Syrian Kurdistan, three days ago, was martyred by the explosion of a landmine while he was working as a shepherd in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Activists from Sherawa area said that the child Muhammad Izzat Hussein, 14 years old, from the village of Bassille of Sherwa area, lost his life after the explosion of a landmine planted in the plain between the towns of Hayan-Zahra in the northern countryside of Aleppo, on Monday 25/01/2021 after his father, who lives in Tal Rifaat town, sent him to work as a shepherd and helps him secure a livelihood.

Activists added that because of poverty and destitution, the father could not send him to school, and for fear of being kidnapped and being recruited into the military forces of the Syrian Democratic Union Party (PYD), they asked the father to send his son Muhammad to the “training” course, more than once.

More than 350,000 indigenous Kurds fled Afrin as a result of the Turkish military operation on January 20, 2018, towards Aleppo and its countryside and other areas.
